Communication Aid Users Support Group (Call Up)
The User Group meet at Lifehouse on a Monday fortnightly between 9.00-12.00 at the Lifehouse. As you can imagine this opens up a whole new world for some people who have previously struggled with their communication.
What is available
Support meetings are held every two weeks. There is an oppportunity to practice using the aid, gain confidence and share experiences in learning how to use your communication aid.
A Buddy Scheme where experienced aid users can share advice and tips.

LWUG is about together, being a stronger voice for wheelchair users throughout our City
- We want to work towards further improvements to the customer care of services, to keep you in touch better, to widen the range of wheelchairs available and much more.
- We want to improve access to information for wheelchair users.
- We recognise the importance of the Social Model of Disability, the realisation that inaccessible transport, housing, public buildings and amenities, as well as an underfunding of the health and social support services.
- We want to see fare better access to public buildings, pavements, kerb crossings in Liverpool, easier to report and get changes.
- We want to promote better access to transport, including trains, buses, taxis, 'Blue Badge' parking, and Motability Schemes.
- We regularly meet at the Lifehouse on the first Monday of the month.
- We want to give you support for any challenges yhou face, frustrating barriers and hopefully celebrate improvements and successes.

Breaking Through Barriers
MCIL is a local organisation controlled by Disabled People. It exists to promote the social inclusion of and equality of opportunity for disabled people across Merseyside. We also work in Partnership with (SAIL) Support Advice for Independent Living and (MI) Merseyside Inform.
Our aims are to promote the social model of disability and social inclusion, to promote equality for disabled people in all sectors of society, to develope and manage projects which enhance the quality of life, to work in partnership with organisation.
We provide a free information services to disabled people, their families and other agencies, volunteering opportunities, Disability Equality Action Learning, representation at and or on public meetings and forums, a consultative body for policy and planning issues of concern to disabled people.
In conjunction with SAIL we run the Direct Payments Information Surgery, a service for those members who are having problems with paperwork etc.

SAIL (Support Advice for Independent Living)
Sail, the direct payments peer support group was set up to provide support for direct payments recipients. This can be done in many ways and some of our aims are;
- To provide for registered members a pool of Personal Assistans (PA's) who will be available whenever regular PA's are off sick, on holiday or otherwise unavilable.
- To provide a network of support via telephone email or any other accessible means
- To provide a forum and present views to the Local Authority
- To provide a channel for organising training sessions for users of the scheme and for PA's

MI (MERSYSIDE INFORM)
MI is one of the partners working with MCIL to improve the lives of Disabled People on Merseyside by providing a source of information on most if not all of the issues affecting Disabled People.
If we do not know the answers we will always do our best to sign-post you.
We are run entirely by volunteers and controlled by disabled people. We are looking for more volunteers because we have great plans for Inform.
